SOCIAL ADAPTATION AS A FORM OF RESILIENCE: THE MACAQUES OF CAYO SANTIAGO
How can social behavior affect survival after a natural disaster? Created in collaboration with Dr. Camille Testard and based on the recent paper published by herself and co-authors, “Ecological disturbance alters the adaptive benefits of social ties,” in Science.
This comic also served as an example project for my new Science Communication & Comics course. Read the entire comic below.
MICROCOSMS
Organisms living in similar environments can themselves be strikingly similar, even if they took independent paths to get there. What about the microbial communities that live inside these organisms? Have they become similar as well? Based on the paper by Dr. Leonora Bittleston and co-authors, “Convergence between the microcosms of Southeast Asian and North American pitcher plants”, in the journal eLife.
